Start to think about a topic to present. You can present work that's already completed, perhaps with a few tweaks to
ensure that your presentation will fit the time and/or space constraints. You can also present a project you're just
beginning. Remember that your project doesn't not have to be complete before you present.
Once you've decided on a topic, consult your mentor to narrow the topic (if necessary) and start writing your
abstract. You may want to consult the Learning and Writing Center for
tips on abstracts and the How Do I...? Guide for commonly asked
questions on research.
Consider the best presentation format for your project. See the Getting Started
page for more details on formats and modes.

Add any finishing touches to your project title and abstract. Ensure that both have been thoroughly proofread.
Make a final decision on your presentation format.
Consult your mentor and get their final approval.
Submit your application by the deadline (typically early- to mid-March)!

Continue working on your presentation. Go over the final details and the guides on this site.
Practice your presentation: record yourself and recruit family and/or friends to listen.
Ensure that you have marked your presentation session, time, and location in your calendar.
Invite your mentor(s), friends, and family to the symposium.
